Points-of-use at risk and the people who need protecting

People that need protecting

The points-of-use that pose the highest risk to users are those that are most likely to expose patients or residents to aerosols and microdroplets smaller than 5µm; in particular, showers and taps.

The people most at risk are those that are potentially vulnerable to opportunistic pathogens (e.g. Legionella) due to their state of health and as a result of long-term medical treatment. The populations most at risk are those suffering from chronic disease, the elderly, people receiving long term corticosteroid treatment, immunocompromised people, etc.
